Ancient birch woodland.
Another pleasant and peaceful day spent ambling through ancient birch woodland with lichen and mosses dripping from the branches. The understorey is made of a thick cover of Juniper , the whole area has been protected from sheep and deer for many years allowing the undergrowth to thrive .
Later we walked along a couple of rivers where the Clunie meets the Dee whilst the sun shone .
Two red squirrels scurried past us as we walked and we heard the delightful sounds of an unseen piper playing a tune .
It would have been my dads 91st birthday today , I have thought about him a lot .
