This morning our first stop was Castlerigg stone circle near Keswick. A fascinating place and it’s meant to be one of the oldest stone circles in the UK.
From there we went into Keswick for a quick look in the shops but nothing caught our eye - and it was very hot!
Next we drove up to Mirehouse, house and gardens. The house was built in 1666 and is filled with fascinating history. In the grounds is St Bega’s church, dating back to the 11 th and 12th century. The gardens of Mirehouse are beautiful and from there we walked down to Bassenthwaite.
Had dinner on the way back at Badger Bar - we’ve always joked about that place, wether it served badgers or were the servers badgers, but whichever, we had a lovely meal.
