Dad really rallied today while we visited - gave lots of TLC , did some gentle massage and got him to eat more than one mouthful of food. He’s lost a weight and sadly a lot of muscle. He was looking this great for 20 mins then just crashed - and looked pale, exhausted and sounded dreadful again. It’s shocking to see the how low the standard of nursing care is, so different from my day. If he can’t eat or drink, it just stays on the tray and gets collected, so mum and I feed and water him &
tempt him with tasty food , but he got that Covid side effect of everything tasteimg of cardboard and he feels full after a mouthful ( that the infection) .
He’s not out of harms way yet but I do think his body is trying to recover .
In other news I’ve taken up running - just 2 km in the sunny mornings , it’s going ok , slow and steady.
Gets me moving , out in nature , might see a dog or horse which puts an extra layer of happiness in it :0)
