Pararge aegeria

Mrs Catspaw and I took a stroll today for the first time ever along a local footpath very near our house that we've never walked before, because it cuts across between the various routes we regularly take when walking out from here.

In any case, it proved a magical experience as we saw two Speckled Wood butterflies (Pararge aegeria) in the shady undergrowth along the path, one of which is shown here.
