Liphook and Ripsley CC ....
I had my third outing for Liphook 3rds today, playing an away game at Aldershot.
We bowled Aldershot out for 94 runs which is a very low score. So low, it's the kind of score that you imagine an Australian team getting ;-)
I was promoted up the batting order after my 35 not out in the last game (not sure if I mentioned it before?), and I came in at number 6. Batting was very very difficult. The outfield was slow and the wicket was really difficult. Aldershot had some very fast and very accurate bowlers, and it was very much a war of attrition. I'm pleased to be able to report that I scored the second highest score in our team (which sounds better than saying I was bowled for 13), and we just managed to win by one wicket in a very nail biting finish.
This photo is me hitting a boundary, with Connor (who was umpiring for a bit) watching on.
Have to say, I have several ball shaped bruises on me. Some would say that I should get the bat in the way, and maybe I should. But bloody hell they were fast and very difficult to predict! All in all, I am delighted with scoring 13 today. Bit pissed that I started to lose concentration and tried to hit out when I knew that playing defensively and waiting for the bad ball was the answer. But it's only my second batting innings, so I'm still very much learning.
Just noticed that the fielder on the left of the picture is the b*st*rd who bowled me out!
My average stands at 48, and having just loaded the scores onto the website, I've noticed that I am 2nd in the batting averages !! Sadly, it's only going to go one way from here :-(
