Cosmos

We have a fine stand of cosmos plants, tall, green, healthy, but only one is producing blooms, at least so far. Very little evidence of buds, most perplexing. Similar thing with our persimmon tree. In fact, it is even worse, it's not producing anything like buds, let alone the fruit itself. The tree looks good. Could it be that pollination was disrupted by rain or wind or something?
