In a bit of a trough
... well actually this is most of it!
I have finally planted up the small slate trough I was given for my birthday last year. Trying to mimic the crevices that some alpine plants enjoy growing in, I set some large slate pieces on edge in the compost. Then three pots of seedlings were decanted, most of the soil shaken from their roots and they were eased into holes in the compost between the slates. Water trickled around the seedlings helped settle the roots into the small but deep holes. A top dressing of small pieces of slate completed the effect.
Now we wait and see if they grow!
