The Waiting Game

We went to Caen Hill Lock today, near Devizes. Once again it was incredibly hot and we had to stay in the shade for most of the time. This beautiful heron stood on the lock side for quite some time. We trained our camera on him, waiting for him to take off. But he was quite happy just watching us from his side of the bank. 

A nearby couple took a few shots on their phones. We chatted for a while to pass the time (heron is now laughing at us). They knew what we were waiting for. After a while the lady quietly crossed the lock and walked slowly along the path. It did the trick and he took off. She smiled at me and gave me a thumbs up then went on her way.
