Moorhen on the weedy canal, near St Cyr's church
I returned to the same section of the canal where I saw a kingfisher last week. Today was much hotter and very still and I arrived later than originally planned.
It was enjoyable walking along the towpath admiring nature on and around the canal. A small flock go long-tailed tits passed along a line of trees on the far bank looking for small insects., whilst chattering to each other.
There are several moorhens with single chicks that are beginning to sense independence. This one sailed up noiselessly whilst I was looking the other way, and surprised me. I think she looks very elegant and in good health.
I'm also a sucker for ripples.
