My promised lazy day in the garden turned into 3 hours hard labour in the vegetable garden. As I was pulling up weeds it made me think about the distinction between flowers that we value (flowers) and those which we don't (weeds). Some of the most ubiquious plants are beautiful when you pay attention to them. The chive flowers in the background are another case in point. Close up their flowers are a match for most other garden favourites.
