2042
When I got back from Japan I started my kanji studies. At the time my knowledge of kanji was limited to 5 to 10, this is recognition only mind you. Now I have 2042 in my brain.
Today I finished James Heisig's Remembering the Kanji 1 which I highly recommend. It contains all Joyo Kanji, the list of most used kanji as composed by the Japanese Ministry of Education, and then some.
It took me about four and a half months of daily studies, seven days a week, naturally with ups and downs and pauses in between. The last week was one of major studying as one who has kept track of my count here on blip or on facebook can gather.
On to the next step towards native level proficiency!
