Window cleaners

A common sight along Wellington's business area is that of abseiling window cleaners. This is one of the highest buildings I have seen them on. I used to work with a young woman who did this for a job in a previous life. Astonishing to me! 
There is a well known qualitative research study I used to tell students about, in which researchers thought they would ask people who did this kind of job about their fear of heights. Hahah they have none! Instead they were characterised in the study as voyeurs (not in the nasty sense, but as people who love to see what is going on around them). That was their story anyway. If it was me I would be terrified to look anywhere but straight ahead.
