Murmuration
A short break in Hunstanton with friends. A walk on Friday along the coast path and an early start (0500) on Saturday to drive the short distance to the RSPB site at Snettisham to watch the wader murmuration. We arrived at the car park in good time and it was rammed. As we walked down to the viewing area it was like a a football crowd walking down.
The murmuration mainly involves thousands of Knots but other birds feeding on the marsh do get involved. As the tide come racing in it disrupts the feeding waders who rise up as one amorphous mass and swirl around before landing again further up the beach. At one point one mass orbited right over our heads. Witnessing this was a fantastic experience, and worth the early start.
