Galas, Festivals and Celebrations

Particularly in Scottish Borders, this is the time of year when 'gala' celebrations take place as they have for decades before, often with a strong emphasis on horses and rideouts, but with a plethora of plant and book sales, evening dances, sports competitions, cream teas and activities for children.

In West Linton, there is the Whipman Week and today saw the sports held in glorious warm sunshine, to the delight of picnic rug groups on the village green.
