The cruelty of the Great Black-backed Gull

The Great Crested Grebe is still alive after the attack of the big Gull, but very bad hurt, with a big bleeding wound in the head.

I stopped coffee drinking on the beach terrace and rowed to the fighting place and hopefully saved the life of The Great Crested Grebe. It was total exhausted but recovered in 1 minute and then dived under my boat to seek shelter. More I could not do, I left it alone in the reeds.

Was my activity right, have I the right to interrupt gulls search for food or is it my duty to save the life of the Grebe?
