Gas Guzzling......
A dry day again. Hopefully it will last a while yet as we haven't started our harvest yet.
Kev and Duncan still carting wheat bales home. I went round to the quarry to weigh my Class tractor and trailer, then headed off to get a load of barley straw .
Back via the quarry to weigh again. I buy the straw I bale by the ton ,so have to weigh the different types of bale to work out how many tons we get.
I was 13.5 tons gross so the barley bales worked out at 290 kg each and yesterday's load of wheat ones are 262 kg.
Back home then headed off back down the road to bale the barley straw that was cut yesterday. The stuff they are cutting today was too raw to bale,so will need to chance it until tomorrow.
Filling tractors up with diesel seems to be a constant job at this time of year. I've ordered more as the tanks are getting low,but as usual, the price has taken a jump again.
This producing food lark is an expensive hobby. Would be nice if we were appreciated for it once in a while !
