Mist Over the Lower Wairau Plain

The first two hours of the day were definitely the best. There was sunshine from time to time, albeit a bit misty. But certainly atmospheric.
I love being up on the Wither Hills and tend to completely lose track of time. The light changes every few seconds...I think I'm finished with one particular view and then suddenly there are more vistas to be captured.
This view is over the Lower Wairau Plain looking out towards the sea. The entrance to Port Underwood can be see through the misty air. The area of sea was named Cloudy Bay by Captain Cook when he was exploring the coastline in the late eighteenth century. Not because of any clouds in the sky but because the waters in the bay were cloudy with flood waters streaming out from the Wairau River. There you are...not many locals are aware of that reason for the name.
Anyway, I never tire of that view and it is so very different every day and in every season of the year.
