Spoonie

Hitting RSPB Old Moor this afternoon on the way to Mum's I was given the heads up there were Eurasian Spoonbills around.

From the hide I could see eight all at a distance with their heads tucked firmly underneath their wings however when a gull came screeching over that soon woke them up! Excellent. With Europe basking in incredibly high temperatures their feeding grounds have dried up hence the influx here to wetter habitats. In the winter you would expect them to go back to Africa.

We have a rather distressing scenario going on in that things are disappearing from mum's house and we aren't sure quite what to do about it! It's a tricky situation.
