Dog day

It was a relatively exciting day here. After a Dr's appointment, Mom felt well enough to stop in the mall to buy a gift. We stopped at the Humane Society shop in the mall where we found this cutie in the window. I hope he finds a good home. Mom was even up to lunch at a restaurant. This was a really big deal.

But this evening, poor Maggie one of Mom's Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, was swarmed by fire ants. While I had her in the tub trying to get the dozens of ants off her fur, I noticed her gums going pale and she went very weak. I got the soap off as quickly as I could and we rushed her to the emergency clinic. They know Maggie, as she sees their cardiologist for her heart disease. Fortunately, she responded beautifully to injectable Benedryl. But they found even more ants on her. Evil creatures! She is spending the night, as we all worried about a relapse in the middle of the night. The staff there was incredible, she will be in good hands.

Tom has declared war against the fire ants. Their hours are numbered.
