Tumulus?

Every August, our residents’ association asks us to deliver leaflets advertising our village fayre to homes in the next village, presumably to flaunt the fact that they don’t have one?

En route, we always pass by this small ‘bump’ on the verge… and for twenty years I’ve tried to find out what it is. It could, of course, just be a load of hardcore left behind when the houses were built but I like to think it’s the burial mound of an ancient village chieftain.
