Yellow flag

This started off as a little snippet from the pond shop. Now it's a massive green triffid that is intent on total pond domination. I have to get in and hack back the huge tuber like roots underwater nearly every year now.

This summer is set for major pond renovations and the yellow flag is going to get it. But I do think that when it is fresh and green like this it is really quite beautiful. The insects love it, they stick eggs up and down the leaves and the frogs hide deep in it's centre.
