David and Goliath

Another night, another traffic light photo at Seaton Delaval Hall. I didn't realise until I looked it up tonight that the statue in front of the house is of David and Goliath. Goliath has his thumbs doubled inside his palms, which is a Northumbrian precaution against witchcraft. Must remember that one!
