Green Man
Having seen a few of these lately, just had to try one of my own. Even if it is a bit of a cliche. But then again, trying out different tricks and techniques for myself is all part of my ongoing visual education, isn't it? Not just seeing new ideas, but also having a go at taking them myself.
I was going to try it a little earlier in the evening but sucked into watching the Scotland v Croatia World Cup qualifying match on TV. Scotland were supposed to have no hope - already out of the running to qualify, bottom of the group, no wins. Away from home against a team that were still unbeaten in the group, currently ranked fourth in the world and playing in a stadium where they have only ever lost once. The Croatian coach had spent the week saying how one-sided the game would be, how Croatia would improve their goal difference that could be crucial in their tussle with Belgium at the top of the group and how Scotland would never get out of their own half in the course of the game.
Except.
Football is nothing else if not contrary and unexpected.
Even when you have almost given up on your team.
Scotland got a lucky break of the ball and scored in the first half.
Still, it wouldn't be enough, would it?
After all, they say it's the hope that gets you.
But they got to half-time, still 1-0.
Sixty minutes.
Eighty minutes.
Ninety minutes.
Three minutes of injury time to go.
And they held on, for a famous victory.
Not strictly speaking of any great significance this time round, but the way they calculate world rankings (that they use to work out the seedings for qualifying groups for the major tournaments) you get more points for beating higher ranked teams in competitive fixtures, so it helps in the longer term. As well as being a sign of some progress, that should help team confidence. Leading into the next game - a friendly against England.
All of which delayed me getting out into the garden to try out my double exposures. Needs a bit more thought I think, but there's potential there I'm sure.
