Online versus Face-to-face
Back blip
A morning of struggling with Microsoft Teams and them discovering that the reason I couldn’t find all the documents I needed for tomorrow online assessment was that I hadn’t been invited to certain Teams channels. Then an afternoon (and into the evening) of preparing for the assessment tomorrow. I can’t help thinking that it was so much easier when we visited a centre, spent the day there, went through the pile of trainees’ paper portfolios and sat at the back of the classroom observing the trainees teach. There’s so much time spent on opening and closing of documents with digital portfolios - at least 4 for each of 8 lessons, and it’s more difficult to get a feel for their progress. And of course, this is the same for tutors on the course. They have to download all the planning documents, mark them, type up their FB while observing, then upload them all again, usually after converting them all to PDFs. Then there’s the whole thing about getting the trainees to upload them all into their digital portfolios, sign all the necessary things and keeping everything up-to-date. Haha - on top of planning for lessons and doing work assignments.
A bite to eat in the Frankfurter tonight.
My blip - I like these little fruit and veg shops and we’re lucky to still have lots in the area.
