I’ve come a long way

Today was an achievement..

We were up and out of bed before 8.10.   Okay so I set the alarm.  The hotel sadly serves breakfast between  8 and 9, so we gotta do it.

We had breakfast, kippers for me, cooked for him.  And then we went upstairs and I put on my new boots, for today, We would walk.

We walked across Market Square, to Crossgates lane, turned right at the bottom, onto Marygate, and down past the Ship, and onto the Castle Walk.

We walked almost to the Castle Promenade, and turned left to walk towards Gertrude Jeckylls Garden.  I love that place.  Beautifull and quiet and an oasis of peace.

We sat for a little while after examining the plants and enjoying the view and took off again.

This time to the water's edge and then left again along the coastal path.  And we walked and walked.  And sat for a while with the Drone, and then found a bird watching hide where we sat and watched swallows for ages, and some grebes, and some red necked things

then we walked some more, and some more, and some more.

And I got very tired.  But finally we saw the Road, and we were almost at the pub, and I got a second wind, and bascially ran to the pub, got a seat and shouted for my beer and my whitebait.

Si had his Crab Sandwich  - he loves the crab sandwiches.   Crab straight off the boats.   Nom nom

Two pints of Shandy for me.

This was followed by a walk to the Gin Shop where we bought some gin and some candles and wax.

And then back to the hotel, and into the Beer garden, where we celebrated 15,500 steps with a Gin and Tonic.

We had a quick half hour in bed, (not that, napping) and then we headed down for dinner.

I always forget about how lush the food is at this hotel, and it results in me getting over excited and eating far too much..

I was fit to explode last night and promised myself to restrain myself.

Lies.  I went straight for it.  Whisked Feta, Kiln Smoked Salmon Papperdell, with babystem.

Si had the Chickpeas and Huumus, then Lamb Chops with Cous cous.  We restrained ourself at dessert and had icecream only.

Nom.  We moved to the Bar because there were some quite annoying guests, who didn't feel the menu reflected their palate and could they perhaps just have half portions, or perhaps souffle.   Or Cheese. Cheese would be lovely.

Si had another beer, and I had two baileys.   That was sufficient.

My leggies were tired.    I was tired,

And I was happy
