World Gravy Wrestling Championship.
An early start for a trip up to Lancashire, with a first stop at the Singing Ringing Tree (pic in extras) then on to The Rose 'n' Bowl, Stacksteads, for an afternoon of gravy wrestling, in fancy dress, of course. More pics in extras.
It's an annual event and fund-raises for a local hospice. I went about 5 years ago and its much bigger now. The loud and very vocal crowd were 5 deep around the wrestling ring.
Great atmosphere, very funny, loud music, slick DJ, pie and chips with pickled cabbage, a very good referee and warm lumpy gravy. What's not to love?
Well done to all the competitors, the firemen who hosed them down after their bouts, the DJ, Judges and Ref, the man who tried to whisk the lumps out of the gravy, the staff at the pub and the crowd who roared their favourites in and out of the ring. A fab way to raise money.
