Offshore Powerboats

After an overnight stay in Southampton, I (Chris) had an early start joining a handful of other photographers on a charted boat which took us across to Cowes (Isle of Wight). We were there to photograph the offshore powerboat racing. There were a mix of boats in different classes, all were doing a route from Cowes and back some were running to Poole and others to Torquay. The weather great, no rain, a few clouds now and then and thankfully it was relatively calm although its very tricky photographing things moving at high speed from a wallowing boat! We saw the boats away (there was no way we were going to keep up) before we popped back to Cowes for a while before returning to see the finish. Our captain is a volunteer with the RNLI and they were out training so we gave them some practice trying to come alongside our boat (which was fun), see the second extra. The wining boat was the first extra.

We came back to Southampton mid-afternoon, a great day out and something different to master in terms of photography.
