It isn't usually a good idea to read a letter written to someone else, but God allowed the letters to seven churches to be included in the book of Revelation in the Bible which tells me that we can benefit from reading and heeding what He had to say to those churches! We began our service with corporate worship and praise. After the welcome from Pastor Wes, the choir and orchestra and our other dedicated accompanists presented a soulful version of "He Never Failed Me Yet", with Larry handling the solo verses and embellishments. The congregation joined in lifting up more songs of worship and praise, including one of my absolute favorites, "The Goodness Of God" which brought tears to my eyes and the eyes of some others. Then it was time for Pastor Wes to lead us into Revelation 2:1-7 where we find the letter to the church at Ephesus, a city of great prominence in the Roman empire. second only to Rome itself. Jesus says to this church in Ephesus, " I have seen your deeds, your service and sacrifice and labor, your perseverance." and many other good things that Pastor Wes lays out in the Live-stream. but the rebuke he has for them is that they are doing all this good, but they have left their first love for Jesus. What does this mean for them and for us as we read the letter and apply it to our lives? Pastor Wes connects the dots in the Live-stream which would be well worth your time to watch........
