Vijlen

about 195 meters above NAP, making it the highest church village in the (European) Netherlands.

We took a (too) long walk to and through the Vijlenerbos to celebrate the end of the holiday with coffee and cake in the only mountain hut in the Netherlands, boscafé Het Hijgend Hert. (extra 1)
The walk became longer because we had planned to take the bus back, but the bus ride was canceled due to reasons unknown to us and waiting for the next one would take more than half an hour. Time in which we might as well walk home.
But not long before we got home I got a well-known sting in my foot. So it was clearly too far.
