Ah no, not Moles.... Badgers!

A day bookended with good and bad wildlife observations (extra shot only for the non-squeamish).

Field training session with Scottish Badgers, ahead of soon being allocated a km square for me to survey for signs of badgers and possible setts. We were shown two crackers today, but along the way being shown what to look for that might direct us to them.

Fully planning on using the experience to look for where the badgers who frequent the woods around us are housed...

Sadly, on the minor road at the top of our track, it looks like a Red Squirrel has been hit by a car - not far from where I found a Pine Marten having suffered the same fate a little under a year ago. Reported to the research project that is monitoring Red numbers in Scotland.
