Cold

We headed down to the garage straight after breakfast to scrape off the paint stripper and anything it had managed to loosen.  The nooks and crannies on the drawers were a tad difficult, but the flat surfaces came up nicely. I put some more stripper on the nooks and crannies and MrMacD decided to put some more on the sides of the cabinets.  While the second coat did its work we walked down to the Farmers’ Market to pick up some coffee, cheese and vegetables, then walked back up the hill to do some more paint stripping.  I got to a point with the drawers where I felt I couldn’t do any more.  MrMacD finished off the cabinets.  Now we need to clean off the last bits of paint stripper, allow the pieces to dry and then we can start sanding.  It’s all go!

After lunch we walked down to Mitre10 to buy some more paint stripper and something to clean the cabinets and drawers before we start sanding them.  It was bitterly cold all day and I was pleased of my warm coat and gloves.  The two walks meant we covered 9.8 kms today.

As we arrived at the Farmers’ Market we saw the Oamaru Steam and Rail train returning from a trip out to near the little blue penguin colony and later we saw it pulled up at the Harbourside Railway Station.
