Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2023 Wednesday — MidWeek Celebration

This begins at 7:00, so when I’m thinking about what day this is and remember that it’s Wednesday — basically retirement is six Saturdays and a Sunday — then I prepare dinner early so we are not still eating dinner when the music team begins.

Then I get my notebook, my Bible, and my favorite pencil, and sit in front of the flatscreen. Wednesday evenings are the high point of the week; listening and learning as Pastor Jack teaches is good; it’s very good. I attended six years of college and then a zillion more classes once I started my career, mostly because I really enjoyed learning and that put me listening to many educators, some who were immensely boring and a few who understood the importance of engaging their audience.

The most profoundly boring teachers whose classes I sat in usually seemed to be in the history department. That was always astounding to me because I think of history as so very interesting, fascinating, and definitely informative.

Pastor Jack is wonderfully engaging. His knowledge of American history and his knowledge of the documents that American is based on is impressive. He grew-up in a military family and was unchurched until he was a young adult. He tells the story that he had a serious speech impediment— he stuttered terribly. That seems impossible because he is such a good speaker now. He has a fun personality and his laugh is contagious. He is the senior pastor at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills.

So hooray for Wednesday!
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
