Shared Memories Mural

Created by Maidstone-born Jack Durling, the ‘Shared Memories Mural’ has about 2,000 handmade tiles reflecting historic and contemporary memories of Mote Park that were provided by local people and 90 students from a local secondary school. Each memory was captured in a single tile and brought together in the fascinating circular piece of artwork.

Each tile glazed in a variety of colours inspired by the seasons: greens for Spring and growth; yellow for Summer and warmth; sepias for Autumn and leaves; and blues for Winter and the cold.

I learned all this from the internet, there was no information about it at all nearby or on the artwork.

A good day, plenty of stuff accomplished. Loved your comments on the epic shed clearing activity yesterday. I touched on a a topic that many of you are grappling with. I did like the comment “if that was my shed, I wouldn’t have blipped it” and another who claimed not to realise shed clearing actually happened!

Thank you too for your congratulations and good wishes for Miya. I dare say there are many proud and pleased parents and grandparents on blip. Congratulations to all those youngsters who received their GCSE results yesterday and their A Level results last week. They’re all on the brink of the next stages of their lives
