A busy day in Rheinland-Pfalz

Having suitably recovered from the flight  or at least enough to be fit for duty with MA - we were chaperoned into Rheinland-Pfalz, where we were given a pretty comprehensive tour of some of the region's best bits.

Starting off in Trifels Castle, where Richard Coeur-de-Lion resided in glorious luxury waiting for the ransom to be paid, we got some amazing views (extras) and managed to stretch my hips on the long climb up and down. Thence into Kallstadt, where there just happened to be a winery, and I discovered "Saumagen", which is a local food speciality (similar to haggis, except with pork) and also an excellent local wine. If only Mrs. Ottawacker didn't abstain....

Later on to Nonnenburg, and then back to Saarbrücken for nightcaps and a late game of pétanque. I could get used to holidays....
