Waiting

The world waits. The air is still. Thunder rolls. The sky grows darker. The clouds are moving even if there's no wind down here.
We dash out to gather our morning breakfast fruit, blackberries and the absolutely final raspberries. More thunder but soon the blackberry box is full.
The first drops fall, just stretch out and pick those at the back. Jan tips her handful of raspberries into the box which is now piled high. Time to go in and eat.
A minute later the sky opens and that storm rain comes, heavy and vertical. We sit inside eating breakfast and watch the rain fall.
