Suction Day!!!

For those of you that read our Blip on 8th August 2023 you will know that my human made an appointment to have her ears 'micro-suctioned'.

Today was the day........................... I got taken for my morning walk early because my human woke up early, because anything medical/dental etc, etc, sends her into panic mode and she was stressing about it all night.

Long story short.................... Very lovely guy, suctioned her................ You wouldn't believe how satisfying she felt seeing blobs of wax coming out of her ears. I know, I know, far too much information. And then, when it was all over, she could hear again. How fabulous is that? For at least two years, she has thought that she was going deaf, but after it was done, she also had a hearing test. All is normal. Yay!!!

…............And the other really good thing...................... she can balance on one leg again?! After doing 3 Zumba classes a week for 3 months (when we were in St Ives) and not being able to do the balance exercises at the end; and after doing 5 weeks of 'body balance' classes in Edinburgh and not being able to balance........................... she can now stand on one leg and balance........... YAY!!! How fabulous is that? Obviously the massive blockage in her ear was affecting her balance. She was soooooo happy that her balance had been restored, that she made a video of herself 'balancing on one leg' and sent it to her sisters. Maybe she should set up a tiktoc account and become an internet sensation. Lol!!!

You have no idea how relieved she feels. She's not going deaf. And now that she can balance again, she doesn't think that she's on the slipperly slope to getting dementia either?! Apparently, not being able to balance is one of the early indicators that one could be prone to getting dementia.

To celebrate this good news, Ann said she would take me off for a long walk this afternoon. She can't go swimming cos she has to keep her ear dry for 48hrs in case an infection sets in.

We jumped on a no. 45 bus and went to Currie. The intention was to walk home via the Waters of Leith and the Union Canal, but we've done that walk loads of times before, so when we got off the bus we just started walking along routes that we'd never, ever, walked before. We actually ended up walking down some very isolated creepy woody paths and through some very dubious housing areas and through some scary parks with drug addicts scary people hanging around. But, after 7.5 miles we made it home.................... Yay!

Tired now. I've gobbled up all my dinner and am fast asleep. Ann's had a glass of wine on the balcony and now she's poured herself another glass while she helps me to write my Blip.

You have no idea how relieved my human feels tonight.......................... She honestly thought she was going to be told today that she was going deaf and had the beginnings of dementia!!!
