Simply the best

On August 9, G woke up with double vision. Very worrisome! He was totally disoriented and could barely walk. We were able to get an emergency appointment with our doctor, and he immediately had his receptionist call our optometrist in Duncan. Luckily we were able to see him late in the day. He did several tests and suspected sixth nerve palsy and referred him to an ophthalmologist in Victoria. He said that this doctor was brilliant. We got an appointment for Aug. 31. 
G's been struggling, not able to do much, and freaked out when we were on the road to see our doctor and optometrist, seeing two cars coming towards us, double everything. He wore an eye patch as suggested by our optometrist, and it did help a bit, but he was still so discombobulated. Yesterday he got a call saying that there was a cancellation and that he could see the ophthalmologist today at 8:00am, same time as the original appointment. So we were up at 4:30 this morning to catch the 6:00 ferry to Victoria.
The ophthalmologist was excellent, so thorough, and he suspects sixth nerve palsy but will send in a request for a CAT scan to rule out any other possible cause. He was so reassuring. Apparently the prognosis for the complete recovery of G's vision is excellent but will take some time. We will see him again once he gets the result of the scan. It's been a tough couple of weeks worrying about G's vision and if the result of the scan confirms sixth nerve palsy, it will be simply the best news. 
I didn't want to mention this on blip until we had an idea about what was going on. Our minds have been on our friends and everyone else who are affected by the terrible wildfires in the province and elsewhere, and G didn't want the focus to be on him. He had the perspective that his situation wasn't as immediate as what was happening in these heartbreaking and tragic situations. My mind hasn't been on photography and blip, but I've appreciated the distraction of trying to post every day. On our way home today, we stopped to pick up Romeo's Pizza for dinner. We've enjoyed pizza from this restaurant for many years. There used to be a Romeo's in Duncan where I worked, and my students and I would often enjoy class lunches there. I would sometimes pick up pizzas to bring home for dinner. We've never tasted better pizza from any other restaurant. It's simply the best. A quick blip of the box it came home in.
We're both exhausted, and it's a treat not to have to make anything but a salad for dinner.  I'll catch up with comments and replies soon.
