Swanscombe Peninsula: Crossing Wires

The two tall pylons above are on either side of the River Thames at Swanscombe (between Dartford and Gravesend), and the stocky pylon seems shaped to support the tension of those weighty wires as they span the width of the river...
After last week's Thames Barrier visit, Im and I went much further downstream to see the Thames at Gravesend, beyond the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge (/Dartford Crossing) on the M25. The river is (obviously) much wider there, and large ships come and go serving the vast amounts of industry on the riverbanks.
We then went for an amble on the Swanscombe Peninsula, and the sprawling concrete works (with vast chimneys) and these extraordinary pylons were the most notable sightings.
