Oak Knopper Gall...

These knopper galls on oak are made by the 'knopper gall wasp.' They are knobbly and in various stages of green, brown and red. Inside the gall, the gall wasp feeds on the host but causes little damage. I think that this one looks like a little chap in a top hat sitting peacefully in the sunshine... :)
