QIMR Researcher Breakfast
In preparation for his Kilimanjaro fundraising climb later this year, Cam was invited to attend a researcher breakfast at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR).
Cam was lucky enough to go behind the scenes on a tour of QIMR's impressive new state of the art labs in Herston, led by Cure Cancer Australia Foundation's 2013 funded researcher, Dr Adrian Weigman. Dr Weigman's area of focus is understanding metastatic progression of aggressive breast cancer.
Cam also had the opportunity to meet several other young researchers, cancer survivors and Cure Cancer fundraisers. One outstanding fundraiser is running a marathon on every continent around the world - including Antarctica!
The highlight of the morning was seeing exactly where all fundraising money goes - for example, $600 funds one year's worth of special testing beakers - and also hearing about Dr Weigman's significant advancements in aggressive breast cancer cell research.
