The Cloisters
Arvin, Jason and I began our day at the local diner for breakfast. The food was good and there was lots of it. Jase had some things he had to do so Arvin and I walked home alone and spent the morning relaxing. We can't go out and lock the door if Jason wants to get back in the apartment because he only has one set of keys. So we relaxed and waited for Jase to return around 12:30. Then off we went.
We walked down to Flatbush and Park Place and took the B subway into Manhattan. We caught the A at 59th street and headed uptown to the Cloisters, a place I had heard about for years but had never seen. I knew there were some amazing tapestries of a unicorn hunt there and other medieval art. We got off at 190th and walked in Fort Tryon Park on the river side heading up towards the Cloisters museum. It was a lovely walk.
We got to the museum and began a leisurely walk all around it. There are a number of cloisters there and rooms full of wonderful art of medieval Europe. The photo is the entryway to the museum. We spent several hours at the museum and loved it. The collection reminded me of the Cluny Museum in Paris and also of parts of the cathedral at Mont Saint Michel in France. After walking around we found a spot with where we could get some lunch and we had a very late lunch. We left at closing time and took the subway back home.
As we got off we realized that it had begun to rain. So we stopped and got some seltzer, bourbon and pizza for our evening meal. Now we are relaxing and recovering from so much walking. I am going through my photos and Arvin is reading. It was another great day.
Jason is not coming home tonight because he is staying at a hotel near the spot where he is going to a show with a friend tonight. He couldn't sleep on the couch last night so he decided to rent a room. I felt bad but okay because we had rented a place for Monday and Tuesday. Next time we visit we will get a room for the whole time. Jase's apartment is just too small to have guests staying over.
