The Tower of London

Little Man and I went via London on route home. Our train came into Victoria Station. We walked past Buckingham Palace and down The Mall. The King isn't in residence (the Union Jack was flying, instead of the Royal Standard, and there were only two guards on duty, instead of four). We walked past Trafalgar Square and headed past Charting Cross Station before walking down the Thames. We crossed over the river at Blackfriers Bridge and continued towards the Tower of London on the Southwark side. I'd checked the times for when Tower Bridge was going to be raised and wanted to watch it with the Little Man. We got to Tower Bridge a bit too early, so we stopped for some food. That's when I took this photo. After crossing back across the river, we went to Tower Hill, where a lot of the public executions took place. It was sobering.

We sneaked through the Tower's gift shop, as pushchair access isn't available from Tower Bridge. We watched the traffic get stopped, and the bridge got raised and lowered. It was a first for both Little Man and myself. Though I don't think Little Man actually realised what was going on.

We then made our way towards Euston Station, where our train was due to depart from. During the course of the walk, Little Man fell asleep, and so I decided to stop for a drink and a quick journaling session before heading on. Little Man woke up as we made our way towards Euston. I'd hoped he'd fall asleep on route home, but no such luck. We got home a bit late, and we both went straight to bed. It's nice being home.
