Finding My Bearings

By JustJuli

Depressing day

Did a lot around the house today, while simultaneously being glued to the news.

No point asking why so many people kill children, there can’t be many species who are such a danger to their young. Parents killing their own children, allowing other people to kill them, children killing children, bombing places where children are, trafficking children and doing horrific things to them, using children to transport lethal drugs, putting children in small boats in dangerous seas, putting their lives at risk because of a misguided paranoia about vaccinations, allowing them to mutilate their bodies before they’ve even hit puberty, killing them for simply wanting to go to school - and you wouldn’t believe the horrors some of my students have experienced. Even with all of this, it’s beyond belief what happened to those poor babies. Seems pointless to expect the people who do these things to have any compassion for the families of their victims, any remorse or even give a reason. I found out that the CEO who dismissed concerns about that evil nurse - I can’t even write her name - was subsequently leading our own local hospital until just a few weeks ago. Absolutely appalling how people like this have no accountability, but are instead rewarded with promotions and big pensions. Hopefully that’s about to change.

In the midst of all this madness, saw this road near the police station in Crawley when I went to pick up my son. It was the only thing that made me smile all day but, of course, I’m not condoning this sort of behaviour!
