Finally...
I finally spotted a hummer sipping at our nectar feeder. This is technically not a good shot. Drizzle was falling and the light was dim. I had to up the ISO to around 500 to capture the wee fellow as he zipped around the feeder.
The hummer was the high point of my day, which began in the middle of last night when Gulliver was suddenly awake and very ill...completely unexplainable. He must have eaten something he shouldn't have, but by the time I cleaned up the mess, I was exhausted. Did I mention that the mess was on the bedroom floor, and it took until now to get rid of the resultant stench, so I had to finish the night in another room? Oh, the joys of living with a dog.
Then a weather front blew in, rain fell, and the temperature dropped. I had finally fallen back to sleep, but woke up again because I was chilled. Oh, the joys of spring in northeast Ohio.
So not much sleep last night, a funeral of a dear friend this morning, more rain all day, and now, when I am about ready to fall asleep, I have to go to a committee meeting. Oh, the joys! That said, I am fully aware that I have a long list of things for which to give thanks. Blipfoto, my blipfriends, and the opportunity to blip hummers and bluebirds (yesterday's blip) are on that list.
Goodnight friends. I'm off to (try not to) sleep through a meeting. Then it's back home and straight to bed. I'll try for a better hummer blip when daylight and sunshine return. Meanwhile, this one will have to do. If you've read this far, thanks for listening to my saga.
P.S. Gulliver seems to be recovered. He has taken some nourishment and regained his energy. So far, so good.
