Second playground

It is a universal truth that as life goes on you discover things through eyes of a new generation.  Who knew there was a playground in Rogate itself? Who needed to know?  We were about to head back to Petersfield and then i vaguely remembered the words ‘rec ground’ and we headed there.  It was very civilized, ‘no anti-homeless benches’ Londoner Beetle observed.  We met Tash, a young mother there with two who gave us a quick run down of good playgrounds in the area.  So lots to find.

Home for lunch and Mum came over, brought by her carer Patty.  I cooked fish cakes (very fiddly recipe with a good sauce, should have stuck with Nigel Slater’s one from Appetite) and a Diana Henry tomato and feta fritter off Instagram.  I also made the plum crumble tart from Tender, fantastic with greengages.  Ivy’s face as she wolfed it down!  On a par with her reaction to my homemade raspberry sorbet yesterday.

V took them off to the station and Mum and I had tea in the garden.  She loved sitting by the flowers and kept exclaiming at the bees and butterflies. Which was nice as she is even more clueless about butterflies than I am..they were Dad’s thing.

Watched a cut in the evening before a supper of leftovers, lots of laughter and chatting.  We all sat and read the papers together…
