Caddisfly
On the way to Rutland water, I stopped at my local nature reserve; Titchmarsh. Not the brightest of days, but still very warm, it was literally buzzing with life. A lot more life than I had expected to see, which thinking about it, is silly seeing as everything is late. The Mayflies were out in force, doing what they do in their amazingly short life cycle - some even finding time to land on me, look at me (poor things!), then fly off!
This Caddis fly is what emerges from the larvae; the ones the build their own home from bits they find on their travels through the water. The fly has antennae that are almost as long as its body.
Later on I took a ride on the Rutland Belle (photos poor imo, due to poor light and cold conditions) in order to spot an Osprey - we did, but only fleetingly. To do this was a good experience, and I'd certainly do again, preferably on a warmer, less gusty day, which equals more likelihood of success.
