Our Day
Today’s weather was perfect for camping and being outside. Hubby decided to make sausage and pancakes for breakfast. Cardinals, titmice and chickadees seranaded us while they shared the bird feeder. I scoped out the local insect population. Found a cicada first thing. Then there were two different moths, a Melanolophia canadaria moth and a black dotted ruddy moth, in the bath house. This Tipula furca (large crane fly) was on our screen house. After breakfast, we hiked to Fossil Beach. The cliffs are eroding so part of the beach is off limits. Of course, several beachcombers ignored the warning signs. We found another common green June beetle on our hiking path. It has been a great day for adding new observations into Seek. We ate a quick sandwich and took a short nap before it was time for Mass. I will try to get a photo of the church since it is our first time attending there. Sure hope your day was as grand as ours. Update: just got the word that another first cousin passed a few minutes ago. Guess the day is pretty awful for her family. She has suffered with cancer for a few years. We were best buds growing up into adulthood. Our children went to school together and we both volunteered there together. Once the grands started arriving, our focus moved to them. May she rest in peace. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by with all your stars and comments. “The more often we see the things around us - even the beautiful and wonderful things - the more they become invisible to us. That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world: the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds - even those we love.” - Joseph B. Wirthlin
