Close, But No Cigar
It was a case of missed opportunities for Yeovil at Huish Park this afternoon: we played the best football we have so far this season in the first half but couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. The collage shows an early free kick from Charlie Cooper going narrowly wide and Frank Nouble (in green, to left of the keeper) bearing down on a header that he managed to head over the bar with the goal at his mercy.
In the second half, Maidstone adapted to our tactics and scored a good goal from a corner. Last season we would have lost after a setback like that but we threw on our subs, kept pressing and we’re rewarded with a late equaliser from Rhys Murphy, our typical poacher goal scorer.
At Park Run this morning, Tess was joined by one of her friends who had her first experience of Park Run. Chris and I came close to breaking his PB, despite him being up half the night after the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, all the flat occupants evacuated the building and the fire brigade came out to check there was no fire. It was 5ish before the firefighters managed to turn off the alarm and everyone could get back to sleep.
