Vadium Zakharov, Danae

Vadim Zakharovs contribution to the Russian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale is an interpretation of the mythological theme of Danae. Golden rain falling is a reference to Danae as a symbol of human lust and greed and the corrupting influence of money.

Only women were allowed into the bottom chamber to collect the coins and put them in a bucket to keep the rain falling.
