Another morning of boring necessary houseworky things .. including a bike ride to the Post Office .. all in the name of attempted healthiness ..
A beautiful afternoon, so I headed off to the place where the turtle doves and cuckoo had been .. of course I saw neither ..
I had a chat with the owner (it's land with fishing lakes on it - which is great for wildlife) .. and we were chatting about foxes - he used to be a free range chicken farmer, so you can guess his opinion. But he said he didn't necessarily agree with his game keeper who shot all the foxes.
I went off to do more photography - and the more I thought about it the more I wondered what threat the foxes were to fishing lakes? Even the owner said they'd have less of a problem with rabbits if the foxes were left alone (ditto my question - what threat are rabbits to a fishing lake?)
I really despair of the attitude prevalent at the moment - if there is perceived to be a problem with wildlife - kill it. Foxes, badgers, buzzards.
It would seem the long term plan is to totally cleanse the countryside of anything which isn't man made.
Having anticipated a poor bird photography day, I'd taken my macro lens with me, and had the first play of the year with it ..
This is a drinker moth caterpillar .. head and shoulders shot ;-)
